How Our Suits Are Made

Besides sustainability, another big focus SB SWIM takes on is ethical production. Have you ever questioned how much it costs to make your $8 fast fashion bikini set? And how much of that $8 is going to the workers who are sewing it?

To start, our pieces are produced in the beautiful location of Bali! Our manufacturer exceeds minimum labor standards in the business, as well as all day-to-day production and sourcing practices. All of the staff are paid above award wages at up to three times the standard, something most brands and manufacturers often fail to do. Each staff member is given the chance to negotiate their own contracts and salaries, as well as being provided with health insurance for themselves and their family. And it gets even better; along with this, they are also being paid an extra month of salary and additional company earnings are shared!

Of course, all rules are followed and all according to the Indonesian Manpower regulation. Employees' working hours are often less than 40 hours per week, along with included meal allowance. Any overtime is only voluntary and is always paid accordingly. The manufacturer also provides itself with a profit-sharing scheme that is paid annually, of which staff at all levels are included.

Lastly, our manufacture shares their passion for continuous worker engagement focusing on business development and decision making. Employees are given numerous opportunities in worker training, capacity building, and personal development courses.

They also offer English business training for free on a regular basis. While being hard workers, they are given fun events such as free Zumba classes and soccer practice for any of the staff who might like to join. Overall, intensive research has allowed us to find a quality vendor who prides itself on products while focusing on sustainable and ethical production. This is KEY!
